039 -William Gardener VC

A 1/10 scale resin bust of Colour Sergeant William Gardener who on the 5th May 1858, during the Indian Mutiny, he performed the act of gallantry at Bareilly which would earn him the Victoria Cross.

The bust is based on a photograph of him by Joseph Cundall and Robert Howlett.

Taken in 1856 as part of a series of  photos of Crimean War soldiers which has been colourised by Doug Bank

The bust comes in 5 parts – head, headgear, torso, knapsack and pedestal, with painting references for all of the medals and the detailed insignia on his  sleeve.
